Prevention and Control of Forest Fires in the Buffer Zone of La Amistad Biosphere Reserve in the Pacific Region of Panama

Fundación para el Desarrollo Integral, Comunitario y Conservación de los Ecosistemas en Panamá is working with an alliance of local conservation NGOs to control and prevent forest fires in Panama’s Baru Volcano National Park and La Amistad International Park.

The Experience of Costa Rican Volunteer Forest Fire Brigades at the Panamerican Meeting on Forest Fires

Date awarded: October 2005.

Through the Panamerican Conference on Forest Fires, volunteer fire fighters from Costa Rica came together to share experiences, resulting in a regional strategy for the management, prevention, and control of forest fires, and a training program for volunteer fire fighters.
